Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, MISSOURI

Incorporated in 1988 and covering approximately 32 square miles in suburban St. Louis County, the City of Chesterfield is a thriving residential and business community.
Twenty-two miles from downtown St. Louis, the CIty of Chesterfield is located on the western edge of the St. Louis County metropolitan area. Six-lane I-64 (U.S. Hwy. 40) connects the City with the Mississippi and Missouri waterfronts. A network of other roadways serves the community providing access to work, schools, churches. shopping and State of Missouri and St. Louis County parks.

A Comprehensive Plan adopted by the City in 1990 and updated through the years when deemed appropriate guides development. The plan ensures that Chesterfield's residential and commercial developments are balanced with the area's open green space and wooded hills. Large and medium size single-family homes, townhouses, condominiums and apartment complexes reflect quality housing stock.

EDUCATION
When it comes to offering its citizens the finest in private, public, even university-level education, Chesterfield graduates with honors.

Along with being served by two of Missouri's most respected and successful AAA rated districts - Parkway and Rockwood - numerous private and parochial schools also dot quiet suburban streets and serve the educational needs and desires of Chesterfield residents.

ATTRACTIONS

Hundreds of colorful exotic butterflys can be seen in free flight at the Butterfly House & Education Center, located at St. Louis County's Faust Park.
As the butterflys only live about two weeks, chrysalides are flown in from around the world on a daily basis. Visitors can see the adult butterflies go through metamorphosis and then watch as they emerge from their chrysalis.

Visitors can also spend time on the beautifully manicured grounds of this 200-acre park in Chesterfield and enjoy the other attractions including the St. Louis Carousel with more than 60 hand carved horses and deer; the Historical Village with authentic 19th century buildings; the Lamella Barn, an original dairy barn; the Seed Visitor Center, a Queen Anne-style carriage house; Thornhill, the estate of Frederick Bates, second Governor's residence in Missouri; and the Symphony Music School.
